About The Heart2Heart Foundation
Our mission is to inspire and enable women and their loved ones to take action that prevents heart attack, stroke, and premature death.
Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans today yet most of us don't know we have it until we experience a cardiac event or, worse, our family learns of it upon our death. Most women and men who suffer a heart attack before the age of 65 don't survive the first one. Around 90% of American women already have at least one risk factor for heart disease. Since heart disease actually begins in childhood, it is imperative that we increase awareness and educate families about prevention as the first step in the fight against this disease.
While some risk factors cannot be changed, around 80% of them can be prevented or managed through good nutrition, exercise, maintaining a healthy weight and not smoking. Combining preventative education with basic and advance screenings, we can help people learn their risk for heart disease and how to win the fight against our #1 killer. A priority on heart health will lead to healthier communities.
